Read your Business overview
The Business overview is the Dashboard for admins and managers. It answers one question: are you getting paid for the work your team does? This guide explains each figure and what to do about it.

What do you see on a new account?
Until there is billable time with a rate, the page shows four steps in place of the figures. Each one fills in part of the page.
Add your clients
Import a CSV from your old tool or spreadsheet, or add clients one by one.
Set an hourly rate
Give team members, job roles or projects a rate, so logged hours have a value.
Log billable time
Start a timer from My work, or add hours you already worked.
Send your first invoice
Turn the unbilled time into an invoice. Cash and unpaid invoices start filling in once it is sent.
Once the first priced hour is logged, the steps shrink to one line showing what is left.
What is revenue at risk?
Revenue at risk is work you have done but not yet invoiced: billable hours at their rates, plus retainer overage that hasn't been billed. It is the same figure as in the weekly Agency Health report.
- Unbilled work
- The three projects with the most unbilled value, each with a link to invoice it, and one line for the rest.
- Since last week
- How the figure changed since the last weekly report. A rising number means work is piling up unbilled.
- Hours with no rate
- Billable hours that can't be valued yet. Set a rate and they count from then on.
How do you read cash and unpaid invoices?
- Invoiced and collected
- What you issued this month against what clients actually paid, net of refunds, with the last six months beside it. Collected falling behind invoiced month after month is an early cash warning.
- Unpaid invoices
- Everything still owed, split by how many days it is overdue. The 30+ days part is the money most worth chasing.
How do you read retainers and budgets?
Each active retainer shows the hours used in its current period as a bar, with a tick for how far through the period you are. A bar past its tick is burning hours early. See Set up a client retainer for how periods and overage work.
Over budget lists active projects that have logged more hours than their hour budget, with the unbilled value of the extra hours.
Questions
- Who sees the Business overview?
- Admins and managers, as their Dashboard. Team members see their own timer and tasks instead, and accountants start on Financials. Admins and managers reach their own work under My work.
- How current are the figures?
- They're worked out each time you open the page, so time logged or an invoice sent a minute ago is already counted. The trend line also uses your weekly Agency Health reports.
- Why aren't my EUR amounts added to my USD total?
- Zentract never converts between currencies. Amounts in your organization's currency are the headline; other currencies are listed beside them.
- Why are some billable hours left out of revenue at risk?
- Hours without an hourly rate have no value to count. The page says how many there are and links to where you set rates for your team.
- When do the charts appear?
- The revenue at risk trend needs three weekly reports, and the invoiced and collected chart needs two months with invoices or payments. Until then you see the numbers alone.
